Sam says “the turntable is a restored Dual 1229 from the mid 70s with a Denon DL-160 cartridge, the phono preamp is a a Parks Audio Budgie Hybrid running Telefunken E88C/6922 tubes, and the speakers are Klipsch Forte IVs. The Fortes are super efficient and easy to power, but that said, the Billie seriously rocks them and has surprisingly low noise with almost no hiss as the tonearm picks up.”

Andrew's Corner: “The system consists of a Music Hall MMF 9.3 turntable with a Blue Angel Mantis low output MC Cartridge in Mahogany. I used a Sonic Frontiers SPF1 Signature Phono Stage to boost the signal in to input 6 of the Billie. The speakers are Sound Artist SCB8. The painting is from a famous Czech artist Peca. The painting is of my wife’s grandfather. They were drinking buddies. He was a Chimney Sweeper.”

Al says “ I listened to the more expensive [amp] and thought it was no where near as clear and pitch perfect sounding as the Billie Amp! This is probably not a surprise to you but I felt I needed to at least see what another high end amp sounds like in my home - no contest.. A buddy came over last night, we played lot's of music on the Billie and the sound, combined with the Triton Five speakers was simply amazing.”

Will’s setup from Massachusetts. Look at all those gorgeous textures! Even the speaker stands were left outside to rust! The problem with slick surfaces is that they only look good when new, they can’t take a scratch. Whereas nicks and scratches on a textured, natural surface age it gracefully, give it depth.

"When Clara moved to the U.S., she didn’t bring much with her other than some clothes, her pasta maker and her favorite records. We use to spend a lot of time listening to music in her apartment in Sweden (especially during the long dark winters) and we were both pretty bummed that she sold her hifi gear before moving to the U.S., but we agreed we would replace it together with something proper that we both loved. ... So on our one year anniversary last week, we finally received the final pieces needed to set everything up, open a bottle of wine, and listen to some of our favorite jazz records. ... It’s modest (in hifi terms), but it’s ours, and we’re looking forward to spending many hours in front of it together."
