“Success is all very well, as long as you don’t inhale.” -Leonard Bernstein . Oh, Lenny’s been known to inhale on more than one occasion, and indulge in hanky-panky on both sides of the fence. But like I said before: f’d up humans make for some great music 😂 . Who’s excited for the Bradley Cooper biopic? I can’t wait… #hereiswhatiamlisteningtonow #heaven11audio #stereo #hifi #classicalmusic

Sunday chill with Mrs. Badu [ @erykahbadu ] While her voice has yet to have that lovely lilting vibrato of her later work, this debut recording stands the test of time. Easily earning the ranking of "Classic". In the pocket washes of bassy, organic hip-hop grooves. Bohemian B-girl Stevie Wonder 70's soul. Her penchant for "mid-tempo grooves and sultry, conversational vocals" drew comparaisons to Billie Holiday. But, if you're gonna be compared, might as well be to the best. ...and she was just getting started! Long live Badu the queen. . #hereiswhatiamlisteningtonow #nowspinning #heaven11audio

Happy birthday to the electric guitar. Yup, this is the one that started it all. Patented on this day, August 10, 1937, the Rickenbacker Frying Pan, designed by George Beauchamp and Adolph Rickenbacker, is widely recognized as the first electric guitar. This innovation transformed music by introducing amplified sound. Although not widely adopted at the time, the Frying Pan's design paved the way for legendary guitars such as the Gibson Les Paul and Fender Stratocaster, shaping genres like rock, blues, country, and jazz. This invention stands as a pivotal moment in the history of music. So crank it a bit higher today 🤓 #happybirthday #electricguitar #heaven11audio

Robbie Robertson (1943-2023) . See you at Big Sky . Thanks for the moments. . “In the valley of tears By the river of time (from the weapons race) In the Book of David In the holy light (when it's laid to waste) It will be written By the children of Eden (I said save this place) And the Holy Ghost Showdown at Big Sky Darkness at high noon Showdown at Big Sky That day may be soon” #RIP

A Sunday morning sitting in at the Orchestre Métropolitain rehearsal. Love the behind the scenes. Conductor Yannick Nézet Séguin's @nezetseguin attention to every subtelty of every part of the orchestra is astounding! Must be so exhausting. Mad geeky respect 🤓🤓🤓 . #classicalmusiciscool #sundaymorning

A sad passing of note: Bossa Nova queen Astrud Gilberto died yesterday at the age of 83. . Many knew her as “The Girl from Ipanema” singer. Of course, she was much more than that one hit -which she sang on because her husband at the time, Joao Gilberto, needed someone who could sing in english. She was the only one available for the session, and even though she never sang professionally before…well you can imagine what happened to her marriage when her version sold way more than the one with hubby singing 😂 . I loved her slightly off key, airy, “naive” style. When I can’t take the cold of winter, I often reach for one of her albums. Her voice radiates heat like a breezy, sunny day. . Thank you for your service Ms. Gilberto. #RIP . #hereiswhatiamlisteningtonow #nowspinning #heaven11audio

Song for the day: Invisible Sun by The Police . There's a very strange light over my city today. The colors are saturated, like after a rainfall, but the ground is bone dry and the sun is hidden behind a veil of smoke. . Out of control forest fires and the summer has yet to begin. What, me worry? . Ghost in the Machine : what great cover art BTW. . #hereiswhatiamlisteningtonow #nowspinning #heaven11audio

Some of the albums I’m enjoying this weekend 🤓🤓🤓 M. Ward: Transfiguration of Vincent (2003): Wall-of-sound Americana. George, A Week of Kindness (2005): droney squeezeboxes and angelic harmonies. Amen Dunes, Love [2014]: a concealed animal moans under heavy clouds Khatia Buniatishvili, Motherland, (2014): translucent lyricism. Last but not least is My Morning Jacket’s singer Jim James’ Eternally Even (2016): Impressionistic phantasmagoria. I sure played o lot of this beautifully produced gem at this year’s Montreal Audio Fest. . #hereiswhatiamlisteningtonow #nowspinning #heaven11audio
